I HAVE read Ralph Musgrave’s reply (HAS, May 5) to my letter about speeding (HAS, May 1). He does not refer to my point on only fining speeding motorists and not giving points on a driving licence, thus allowing the well-heeled to speed at will.
It could be that drivers who drive faster are safer, but I doubt if the pedestrian they hit will be.
When Mr Musgrave was “flashed by a speed camera” in Newcastle (HAS, April 27) did he know he was breaking the speed limit and decided to take a chance?
