I WAS so happy to read Ann Allison’s letter (HAS, some editions, April 27) regarding the hard work she and fellow staff members put in for the St George’s Day celebrations at Asda, in Spennymoor.
Serving their customers lashings of beef and pork buns was a splendid idea, and I just wish that I had managed to get up there to devour one of them before I joined friends in Darlington town centre for our annual English jamboree.
Many thanks to Ann and the Spennymoor Asda store for making such an effort. I just hope that other supermarkets now follow suit and join in with the burgeoning St George’s Day celebrations.
