CHRISTOPHER Wardell (HAS, April 14) takes to task those who object to music being played in shops and banks.

Perhaps it should be pointed out to Mr Wardell, who – in the words of former Prime Minister John Major – strikes me as being two apples short of a picnic, that many of us like to go about our daily business without having to shout at those who are serving us.

Thank heavens for Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s and the Leeds Building Society. As for Asda, I certainly won’t be entering any of their stores if Mr Wardell is in attendance.
