IF Peter Mullen has anything favourable to say about the BBC he took care to show no hint of it in his column (Echo, April 7), which was a torrent of complaint covering the corporation’s activities and, indeed, questioned its very existence.

His views are in drastic conflict with the worldwide admiration and respect in which the BBC is held by qualified opinion.

Nor are they supported by the commanding audience figures gained regularly by a variety of BBC TV and radio programmes, all supplied for a licence costing less than a daily newspaper.
