SO, Des More is at it again, praising the evil woman, Margaret Thatcher (HAS, April 1). She didn’t put this country right, she ruined it.
With her puppets in the Cabinet, she set out to destroy the miners and unions from day one in 1979 and the only way Tony Blair was going to get elected was to do exactly the same: ignoring what the Labour Party was formed to do – ie, look after the working class and fight capitalism.
Today, people don’t care about other workers. Now, they are no-ones because they know immigrants will take their jobs.
There could be some who stand against capitalism, not many.
The unions are too weak, or scared, to do anything.
As for this year’s 25th anniversary of the miners’ strike, I will always remember who started it, and why.
John Hoodless, Darlington.
