THE return of Mark Warr to the early morning local news summaries on GMTV has been a great pleasure. What spoils this is that it is apparently for only a few weeks.

His professional and pleasant presentation of the news makes it worthwhile to wake up early as he even makes the worst stories worth listening to.

Only Colin Briggs (another early morning newsreader) on BBC compares with Mark’s professional attitude to the job.

To hear that Mark has been made redundant by ITV shows that the search for profit goes before quality.

We trust that ITV regional director Graeme Thompson and Co have a change of heart and reinstate Mark, or find him another role in the news presentation team at Tyne Tees.

Failing this, I suggest that BBC find a place for Mark and keep him in the region as we cannot afford to lose the best presenters we have to others.
