YOUR Parliamentary Correspondent Robert Merrick's assessment of David Cameron's tour de force conversational speech was pretty thin stuff (Echo, Oct 4). The conference heard detailed analysis of exactly how all proposed tax cuts were to be funded. I don't recall your paper doubting the source of funding for the list of expanded state payouts which Gordon Brown promised for the umpteenth time at Bournemouth.

I don't mind a journalist disagreeing with the Conservatives; with certain newspapers we get used to it. What really gets up my nose is Robert's failure to be fair.

Judging from the public response to David Cameron's proposals, particularly on Inheritance Tax, he may well have found himself in a minority.
