IN response to JR Armstrong (HAS, Oct 4), every child, regardless of wealth and social background, should be entitled to the same standard of education, which should be free. Everyone should be given an equal chance to go to university whether it be Oxbridge or Sunderland.
Just because the majority of people can't afford to send their children to public school, doesn't mean their children shouldn't be given the same opportunities.
David Lowdon, Crook.
