I REFER to Redcar MP Anna Turley’s statement (Echo, Dec 19) claiming that the leave side had conned voters.

Anna, please tell me how the promise of extra cash on the side of the “infamous” red bus has turned out to be a con? We haven’t yet reached that brilliant date of March 29, 2019, yet we leave and even then, if we get a good deal, our weekly contribution will not cease immediately.

May I remind the MP that the same red bus did not state that all of the £350m would be directed to the NHS. Even so, if only £100m was given, that would equate to a yearly increase of £5.2bn. Adding that to the recent announcement of further money being assigned to the NHS, I think would confirm that the Government does have the best interests of the NHS at heart.

It would also appear that the referendum of 2016 never took place as the MP says that the Government does not have a mandate for its actions over immigration. Ms Turley may be referring to the NHS but I would point to the bigger picture and the leave vote won.

In the same edition, I am advised 8,000 people have been polled and that the vote to remain is now greater.

But 33m people voted in the referendum. Therefore I don’t think I am too worried.

Leavers, hold your nerve – it has been a constant fight by the remainers since they lost the vote. What can

I say – bad losers!
