IN the year that marks the centenary of women being given the vote, I am sure your readers will find it appalling that the Leader of the Opposition should make such dreadful remarks – allegedly calling her a "stupid woman" – about our Prime Minister, whether audible or not.

Such behaviour is deserving of an apology, and pays no credit to the challenges our Prime Minister has faced in recent times or the service she has given our country.

I should think that in particular the female Members of Parliament from the Tees Valley would wish to distance themselves from such sexist and misogynistic comments.

I look forward to them doing so.
