BANK of England governor Mervyn King said in evidence to the Treasury Select Committee concerning Northern Rock that "the Bank of England would have preferred to have acted covertly as lender of last resort", but was prevented from doing so by the Market Abuses Directive.
So we have another EU directive preventing our own institutions acting with judgement and in the national interest in an expeditious fashion.
Surely this is more reason for the British people to be allowed a vote on the EU Treaty. In every other EU country political leaders acknowledge this is an EU constitution which countries are not allowed to leave without the Union's consent.
At the last General Election, both Labour and Liberal Democrats pledged to allow people a vote on a future EU constitution. Now, both are denying us that vote.
They pretend this treaty is not a constitution despite it having all the features and legal structures of one constitution thrown out by the voters of Holland and France Write to your MPs demanding your right to vote.
