I GREATLY enjoyed seeing Durham County Cricket Club parade the Friends Provident Trophy at Sunderland's Stadium of Light - the home of the major football club of historic County Durham.
As a proud Durhamite, I fully expected that the cup would then be paraded at Darlington and Hartlepool - historic County Durham's two other major football clubs.
However, I was disgusted to find that the cup was paraded at Newcastle United's ground, but not at Darlington or Hartlepool.
Newcastle is in no way part of historic County Durham, so can someone at the Durham CCC please tell us why it was given the opportunity to parade our Durham cup to the exclusion of Darlington and Hartlepool - both part of our historic County Durham?
I doubt if either Yorkshire or Lancashire would ever think of parading any cup they might win at a football ground in a neighbouring county.
