AS much as we are all delighted that Darlington council has had a rethink about its proposed closure of our Crown Street library, I am wondering what is to be the fate of the staff?
So far we have been concerned with the saving of the building, but a library is more than that.
A library stands or falls on the quality and dedication of the staff within it.
We are fortunate in Darlington to have staff who have served us well. What is their fate?
No councillor would wait two years for the result of a local election, and yet the staff have been faced with redundancy for that time.
The staff need to know what is planned for them, if anything.
