AS Newcastle and North-East based organisations (and some of us as Newcastle United season ticket holders), we write to express our total condemnation of some of the Newcastle United fans in their Islamophobic chanting directed at the Middlesborough striker Mido at the Tees-Tyne derby game on August 26.
We have spent the last decade campaigning against racist abuse only to find the bigots have now turned to Islamophobia.
We call upon Newcastle United FC, the Premier League and the FA to urgently address the situation by condemning the behaviour and call for the police to identify and take action against those responsible.
