THE Prime Minister's honeymoon period looks over. Put on the back foot by the prison officers seeking fair remuneration, Labour scurrying around trying to get out of the hole it dug for itself with the pathetic pay rise forced upon nurse and health workers in England only, and now murmurs that the police are investigating the possibilities of some form of industrial action allowable within the law, Gordon Brown appears to be heading for the rocks.

With house prices falling, interest rates rising, recession kicking in, and a consumer spending slowdown, things look bleak indeed.

The Conservatives are, according to David Cameron, ready and financed for a snap General Election poll, while the trade unions unashamedly seek Labour favours in return for their financial donations. Things are fast closing in on Mr Brown, and the clock is ticking.

In Scotland, the SNP is 15 per cent ahead of Labour in opinion polls meaning Holyrood is SNP-controlled and Westminster will fill with SNP MPs on a snap General Election night, making a Scottish breakaway from the UK almost certain.

Where then for a Scottish MP and Prime Minister of England and Wales? Tick tock, tick tock.
