ON the question of television standards (Echo, Aug 27), I believe there are some good programmes, but they are thinly spread.
In the present decade I have enjoyed watching Hitler: The Rise of Evil on Channel 4 and The Forgotten Prince on BBC2.
The Gathering Storm, which told the story of Winston Churchill's wilderness years, was another fine drama.
For a story to be told in an uninterrupted manner, I find that my favourite is BBC2.
The American-born author, Lionel Shriver, who has complained about today's output, may well have a point for I remember the time when British TV was the best.
I believe it still is, if one makes the right choice.
