IT IS a shame that Abdul Jaleel calls us patriotic English people "little Englanders" (HAS, Aug 31).
I have every right to be proud of my country. My family surname can be traced back to 1255, my grandfather fought in the First World War and my dad fought against the Japanese in Burma during the Second World War.
They, like millions of other brave British men and women, put their lives at risk for this nation, and no one, including Abdul Jaleel, will ever try and tell me how I should behave in my own country and how I must bow down to other cultures or snarl at every thing that is remotely British. It will simply never happen.
We have a history to be proud of, folks. Never let the liberals amongst us or people from ethnic backgrounds demand that we should forget the gallant actions of our forefathers who gave their all to make this country the envy of the world.
May the good Lord bless Great Britain, its people and its armed forces. This "little Englander" will never give up his honour for Queen and country.
Christopher Wardell, Darlington.
