IN response to Keith Dewison's letter about dangerous dogs (HAS, Aug 22). Why do he and Dublin City Council target all dogs of certain breeds? Surely this is unfair.

There are more murders than dog attacks and the murderer is looked after. A dog bites someone and all hell is let loose.

He and all like him seem to forget what the noble breed, the German shepherd, did for this country in the Second World War. The German shepherd is so intelligent and easy to train for the police, the military and disabled people. I bought my first German shepherd in 1959. In total, I have had five and at one time I used to walk three out together, and all I got was admiration from everyone who came into contact with them.

I have visited some of the country's biggest and finest kennels and been to the biggest shows in this country, including Crufts, and there has never been any trouble.

Surely there is good and bad in every living thing. It is the bad dogs and people that want sorting out, not the breeds.
