A FEW weeks ago I had to make a right turn across the A68 opposite Barrons Caravans to travel along Burtree Lane, near Darlington.
Due to the long grass in the central reservation my vision was restricted, so I was not able to see the oncoming traffic. We all know this is a bad junction and I felt the grass needed cutting. I don't know who is responsible for cutting it, so I emailed Durham County Council, which said Darlington Borough Council was responsible and gave me a phone number.
A few days later, the grass had been cut. Coincidence or not, I don't know.
Driving home at about 5pm on Monday there was another accident at the same place. As I write, I have no idea about the cause or what injuries anyone sustained, but the time has come for drastic action.
Why not close the gap altogether to stop traffic crossing the carriageway? I don't mind driving to the next roundabout to turn around to get to Burtree Lane. It will only mean being a few minutes late getting to my destination - better than arriving early in the next life.
