RE the case of murdered four-yearold Leticia Wright (Echo, Aug 11).
Once again we have an innocent child being abused and killed by inadequate adults (you can't call them parents) and once again, after social services had been alerted, a couple of visits and the child was forgotten like a closed book.
Social services have got to take some responsibility and be more vigilant and revisit time after time and be given powers of entry to those homes where there is doubt - or we will read about the deaths of more innocent children.
Mrs Julia Bell, Newton Aycliffe
