AFTER reading the article about Tesco's wind turbine at Newton Aycliffe (Echo, Aug 10) what I had suspected is true. No planning permission was granted before construction.
I urge Sedgefield Borough Council to refuse Tesco's application for retrospective planning permission as a company of its size should know the rules of planning and have applied in the normal way as does everyone else.
Just because this is "environmentally friendly" does not excuse Tesco's actions.
This is a further blot on the landscape as you drive through the town, the first being the fact that Tesco was allowed to build a "factory unit" instead of brick as is every other building in the town.
If retrospective permission is granted Tesco should be made to move it to the other side of the site where it would not be so visible.
Mrs Lynda Bentley, Newton Aycliffe
