PROFESSOR Stephen Hawking suggests that humans need to relocate to another planet in order to survive.
He suggests we colonise Proxima B which may have similar conditions to Earth, but it is 4.2 light years away (or 25 million million miles).
At the speed of current rockets it would take 250,000 years to get there!
He says we are smart enough to over come the technological obstacles.
But we should be looking after this planet rather than looking to trash another one. All the vast amounts of money spent on space travel and research should be put into saving our planet which is going to die of the plastic poisoning of the oceans.
We must curtail our population as we are now approaching the eight billion mark.
