HOW Jacob Rees-Mogg must be laughing. Not only did he and his fellow old Etonians manage to persuade millions of Labour voters to support his Brexit campaign but now he is favourite to succeed Theresa May (Echo, Sept 6).

During the EU referendum I wonder if those supporting his bid to break the EU ‘shackles’ preventing him from adding to his millions realised they were paving the way to him becoming Prime Minister.

As an outspoken supporter of zero hour contracts, abolition of environmental protection and anti-inflationary increases in benefit payments, once the EU restraints are gone he will be able to add to his fortune thanks to the good folk of Hartlepool, Sunderland and elsewhere.
