IF anything ever called for the urgent return of the birch and punitive extended detention it’s this trick which teenagers have been getting away with for years of throwing bricks at moving buses.

Your report (Echo, Aug 30) is just the latest incident, in which a little girl was injured. These teenagers know what they are doing and what the consequences could be, and if caught they should suffer the full rigours of the law.

Nor are they just kids. They couldn’t care less whom they hurt or how badly. In fact they clearly enjoy it.
