RE your letter from Mrs AE Carr asking if her Jones sewing machine, which must be at least 100 years old, was a record (HAS, May 30).
I can at least match it with my Frister and Rossman machine, which I think was my grandmother's.
I wrote to Frister and Rossmann in 1974, giving the serial number, and they told me it was 80 years old then, so by now it is 113 years old.
It is still in use, like Mrs Carr's machine.
