DESPITE his recent recall to the England squad, David Beckham, by his decision to end his career in the US, has in effect called time on his playing days in senior football.
With this in mind, assessments of his achievements have already begun. Criticisms have ranged from his failure ever to play a big tournament for England, to which of his many hairstyles was the most unsightly.
However, one thing that cannot be taken away from him is the simple fact that he played for two of the most famous club sides in world football. I am, of course, referring to Real Madrid and Preston North End, the original double winners, where the Boy David made his breakthrough.
So, as the Beckhams prepare to head West, there is one outstanding issue still to be resolved. Does this mean that the lingering threat of a Posh Spice comeback has been lifted from an anxious British public?
