DURING Prime Minister's Questions on June 21, 2006, Tony Blair said about the Home Information Packs: "I am proud to be introducing these measures, especially as we (the Government) are doing so a year before the EU directive requires us to do so."
Whenever anyone tries to justify this meaningless and expensive pack, it is about protecting buyers and sellers. There is never a mention that it was being introduced as a Brussels directive to remove yet more of our liberties.
Strange (or perhaps not) that David Cameron and the useless Tories show no signs of highlighting the Brussels dimension.
These packs, whenever they are introduced, will contain an energy efficient certificate. This means a council official now has the right to crawl all over your house and assess how energy efficient you are. This is the excuse the Government has long sought after to pry into your homes - the true mark of a totalitarian regime. This is an expensive con born and bred in Brussels. Why doesn't the press and broadcast media say this?
