THE ban on the use of mobile phones while driving is a complete waste of time until police have a major crackdown.
The threat of three penalty points has been no use at all. I have witnessed as many as a dozen people talking on their mobiles while they are driving any one day of the week.
It is a dangerous thing, so why not employ a separate body to have a three-month purge? That will soon sort it out, and the revenue from the fines will more than pay for the operation.
