RE E Reynolds' remarks about Princess Margaret's lifestyle choices (HAS, May 3). She may well have over-indulged in her drinking and smoking habits. Margaret lived a completely opposite lifestyle to her sister, the Queen.
I read that in her later years she became a recluse and a lonely, sad lady who shut herself away from public life in her apartments at Kensington Palace - a complete contrast to her younger years, filled with gaiety, also much sadness.
So, Mr Reynolds, don't be quite so quick to make unkind judgements on someone no longer able to reply.
Mrs J Lawler, Newton Aycliffe, Co Durham.
