TONY Blair says he did what he thought was right by invading Iraq.
Why did he think it was right?
Whitehall's joint intelligence committee (JIC) advised him that there was no reliable intelligence about Iraq's WMD (weapons of mass destruction), and he knew Hans Blix and his UN inspection team were in the middle of a systematic search for these weapons.
The JIC also warned that if Iraq did possess WMD, the collapse of the regime could increase the risk that terrorists would get their hands on them, and that "al Qaida and associated groups continued to represent by far the greatest threat to Western interests, and that threat would be heightened by military action against Iraq".
Why were these warnings not included in the "dossier" presented to Parliament, so that an open and honest debate could take place?
The JIC's advice was sound. The ill-conceived "War on Terror"
cannot be won, and has exponentially increased recruitment to the cause of violent jihad.
With the blood of hundreds of thousands of people on their hands, George W Bush and Tony Blair look set to ride off into the sunset unscathed. They should have been impeached and tried for war crimes.

I THINK the real reason Tony Blair has resigned is that he's simply run out of ideas and has absolutely no clue what to do next. No muddleheaded buffoon can ever remain Prime Minister. That is a fact of life.
