FREEDOM is a state in which you can do what you want without interference. Laws limit our freedoms, whether prohibiting us from theft or demanding that we only sell goods using a metric measurement. Some laws are obviously necessary, to enable us to live in a fair, secure society. The rest should go.
Freedom is impossible when the lawmakers' only loyalty and accountability is to each other, not those who must obey. "Tribal"
voting makes us slaves.
Other hindrances to freedom include a lack of accurate, unbiased information. We cannot further our wishes with our votes if we are misinformed or kept in ignorance.
For example, the EU, which effectively rules this country, should be on the TV news every night.
Another enemy of freedom is our own complacency, in living only for today and for ourselves. We are already indebted to our oldest generation who have done their bit and shouldn't still need to concern themselves with politics.
However, many do, putting the younger generations to shame in their active concern over the recent dangerous loss to our freedoms.
Congratulations and thanks to all Ukip voters. As our votes grow, our message is starting to be heard.
