I AM appalled that Darlington Borough councillor Dorothy Long thinks that one person knocked over by a cyclist In the town centre does not warrant the exclusion of speeding careless cyclist who do not use warning bells when they fly past pedestrians (Echo, Dec 5).
If a cyclist wants to shop in the centre they should surely park and secure their bike away from the main street and walk like other shoppers. They should buy their goods and then cycle home.
This applies to sensible cyclists but those who have caused this terrible accident will continue to ignore pedestrians.
Tthe town centre should for pedestrians only.
One accident is one too many and shame to anyone who disagrees.
Pauline Rees, Darlington.
