IN reply to Jimmy Taylor’s letter (HAS, Sept 22), the answer is no Jimmy you didn’t waste your time defending miners’ rights.
It doesn’t matter if you helped one or 1,000, the ones you helped will never forget and poorer are those that either didn’t help or disrespect those who did.
The trouble is today people have no idea of the good works being done by a silent majority, such as those who give their time freely to assist others or raise and collect monies for charities without looking for praise or thanks.
It seems if you want to be noticed you’ve either got to pinch someone else’s idea, like a musical event for the poor and starving while counting your millions in one of your several mansions, or travel halfway around the world in a gigantic airliner to protest about carbon dioxide emissions before being whisked away in a fuel guzzling limousine.
