BY not embracing the Grand Depart of the 2014 Tour de France, Richmond has missed a golden opportunity to present itself to a worldwide audience.
Why was no bid made to have the tour come through the town and, if that bid was unsuccessful, why did Richmond not become a Spectator Hub with large screens in the Market Place or parks?
There are big screens at Grassington, Aysgarth, Bainbridge, Hawes, Muker, Reeth, Grinton, Leyburn, Middleham, Bedale and Masham.
Our mayor and councillors should hang their heads in shame.
Penny wise, pound foolish.
