IT is very apparent that since the roadworks in Darlington town centre removed the high hedges from the central reservations, all drivers have a clear view of each other.
I believe that this philosophy of restricting a driver’s view of other traffic at roundabouts may come from the local council or police – the same principle seems to occur throughout County Durham where some roundabouts are thick with vegetation. It means that a driver approaching a roundabout cannot see other approaching traffic until they pop out from behind the vegetation six or seven metres away.
It is a dangerously ill thought out philosophy that should be reconsidered.
Name supplied, Darlington.
