THE letter from Jimmy Taylor, of Coxhoe, about his childhood memories (HAS, June 30) referred to horse-drawn ice cream vans.
Jimmy’s comment “it was never a hygienic way to sell ice-cream with all the horse droppings”
interested me.
Jack Rea, who used to bring his van to Chilton when I was a child, used to offer “monkey’s blood”
with our ice-cream.
It just goes to show that, even in a fairly small area, there are changes in taste.
Chris Greenwell, Darlington.
