I READ with some dismay that there is a plan to build houses on spare land off Bellburn Lane, Darlington (Echo, June 17).
There are already houses being built on Brinkburn Road. The spare green area is used for kids playing. I have spent many happy hours kicking about with my grandchildren. If houses were to be built, where would they go to play? There is only a small park nearby.
On the subject of housing, I do like the idea of the old tax office on Commercial Street being turned into 68 one bedroom flats (Echo, June 16).
