IT appears the BBC received hundreds of complaints about the lacklustre and monotonous drivel of Phil Neville’s commentary during the England v Italy game.
Phil’s response was that it was his first attempt at commentating — on the world’s biggest football stage...and he’ll try to get better.
I’m sure a Sunday morning league player wouldn’t get a start in the Premiership without learning his trade in the lower leagues. So why is it the BBC sees fit to give the commentary to a novice?
There is only one professional football commentator whose knowledge, experience and enthusiasm can lift the nation’s hearts and get us all behind our national tea and he’s actually employed by the BBC - Ally Brownlee.
If we start a collection could we get Ally to Rio by next week.
Archie Currie, Marton.
