I AM sure a lot of men are walking around with a smile on their faces due to the World Cup and the prospect of some long sessions in the pub with their mates.

However, the man with the biggest smile must be the Foreign Secretary William Hague who has spent the past few days in the company of actress Angelina Jolie for some high profile media attention.

Having put Brad Pitt in the background, the somewhat bland Mr Hague must have felt top dog.

Back home I’d like to bet the ironing pile is up to date, the dusting and hoovering done and the egg and chips replaced by candlelight and soft music.

Mr Hague will be back at his desk this week dealing with the mundane business at the foreign office but knowing full well that Angelina is just a phone call away.
