SOME time ago we were invited to partake in the original Holocaust Memorial Service. I was grateful, but insisted that all the other minorities persecuted by the Nazis be included in the service and that other global tragedies should also be remembered.
The resulting memorial services, organised with efficiency and great warmth in Darlington by the Reverend Robert Williamson, are a great and very moving event.
It also shows the importance of all the faiths uniting in decency, understanding and mutual respect in defending each other against intolerance.
This works very well in Darlington.
