I IMAGINE almost everyone in the North-East and across country will be as outraged as I am to hear that Conservative MEPs are trying to block legislation that seeks to scrap roaming charges for mobile phone use across the EU.
Most people will have suffered from the extra phone charges slapped on us when we go on holiday.
The Tories are putting big business profits and their anti- EU obsession ahead of citizens in the UK and abroad. Action to reduce profiteering by big business is exactly what most of us want to see.
Could the Tories, and Ukip, be seeking to block this legislation in order to then claim that the EU isn’t doing anything? It wouldn’t be the first time they pulled that stunt.
