THE debate over Darlington’s town parking seems to run on and on with numerous proposals discussed.
The answer seems obvious.
Like other major towns and cities why not try a park-and-ride scheme, even if just for a couple of months to judge it’s success or not?
The site of the former Torrington company at the top of Yarm Road would be a perfect spot and may not cost a lot to put it into use.
Sited here, it would serve all traffic from Teesside.
On the other side of town, West Park has land to spare and would make a perfect site for traffic from the west.
There may be issues over ownership of the land but surely the council could sort this out?
The scheme would bring in revenue and should go a long way to solving some of the town centre parking issues.
