I HAVE never had much time for Ray Mallon, or his column, so I cannot support the comments of LD Wilson ( HAS, Feb 3).

My own personal view of Mr Mallon is he is a self-publicist. I expect we have not heard the last of him.

It would be of no surprise to see Mr Mallon standing for parliament in a forthcoming election in order to enjoy such trappings of office and using his position to continue to voice his often unwanted views.

Or, maybe he will try to become a police and crime commissioner. I just hope it is not for Cleveland.
