I REMEMBER the day of the Queen’s Coronation well. I was five-and-a-half years old and living in Newton Aycliffe.
As we were one of the many who had no television, all my family and relations had to go across to Ferryhill to watch it.
In fact, I did not actually see it as all the children were sent out to play so the grown-ups could watch it in peace.
