THE difficulty of getting to see a GP which MP Jenny Chapman highlights is not confined to Darlington, it is across the whole country (Echo, May 21).
A retired hospital consultant in Cheshire recently wrote that it took him at least two weeks before he could see his GP.
To be seen on the day you have to ring first thing in the morning, but if the surgery phone is engaged, you have lost your place in the queue and the appointment has gone to somebody else. This has to do with new system which came into effect from April 1 this year.
