THERE are justified worries arising out of the Government’s reorganisation of the NHS and the inevitability of cuts in local government services.
Amid the gloom came the pleasing proposals for Darlington Civic Theatre (Echo, May 29).
The imaginative notion of a temporary restoration levy on tickets must be welcomed and we must hope the plan to acquire additional space comes to fruition.
The live theatre and cinema are a necessary escape in times of austerity and melancholy.
