MPS are in line for a dramatic pay rise of up to £20,000 (Echo, May 20).

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority has been looking at an increase of between £10,000 and £20,000 – although the lower figure is considered more likely.

These proposals are all wrong.

MPs are looking after themselves when they should be looking after the people they represent. If they cannot manage on £66,000 plus perks they should look for another cushy number.

I suspect it would be hard to find. Do we actually need so many MPs to represent the people? A lot of money could be spent on better things.

No wonder people will vote for Ukip at the next election.
