IT always makes me chuckle when someone in England has a go at our Queen for being “German” especially when that someone is Germanic themselves.
Peter Sagar (HAS, May 14) also wrongly states that Prince Phillip is Greek.
The name Sagar is of Anglo- Saxon origin and the Anglo- Saxons are Germanic, so presuming Sagar is Peter’s original name, he too is Germanic.
With regards to Prince Phillip being Greek, just because he was born on the Greek island of Corfu doesn’t make him Greek.
This is because his genetic make up is Germanic, which is proven by his lineage.
As the Duke of Wellington once said: “Being born in a stable, does not make one a horse.”
It is genetics that make us who we are, not where we are born.
