AS an ex-motorcyclist, I am horrified by the deaths of motorcyclists on our roads.
However, I am puzzled by the efforts of the police with their initiatives such as Bikesafe (Echo, May 14).
They say: “We welcome motorcyclists who are responsible and stick to the rules of the road.”
Is not the trouble caused by those motorcyclists who ignore the rules of the road?
One has only to drive through Bilsdale on a sunny weekend at the legal limit of 60mph to be overtaken by motorcyclists doing far more, who perform occasional wheelies, who ignore double white lines and even overtake on blind bends.
What are the police doing about them? They know the rules but have decided they do not apply to them.
Or perhaps they believe they are immortal.
