ON July 17, 2012, my dad, Brian Pattinson, was involved in a fatal car crash.
Dad’s injuries were truly horrific. He had to be cut free from the wreckage of his car and was taken by air ambulance to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle.
Myself, my brothers and dad’s girlfriend had to watch as he died from multiple crushing injuries.
The man responsible for the crash had a broken ankle and was back in his car within a week.
At Consett Magistrates’ Court on April 25 the man guilty of killing dad, and who has previous driving convictions, was sentenced to a 12-month driving ban and an £85 fine.
If, like us, you are disgusted by the lack of justice in this case then I urge you to visit stopdangerousdrivers.com and sign the online petition.
Families like ours are seeking a review of the law, to bring about tougher sentences for drivers who kill.

My dad deserved so much better.
